Honestly though, I almost never think about that stuff anymore just because ultimately I'm really only concerned about various streaming or broadcast standards (LUFS) and I do that sort of volume leveling ITB after I come back into a print track from the SSL. What I can tell you is that regardless of dbfs calibration, I did not have to turn the threshold all the way down to get 8 db of GR so it "felt" more like the Presonus threshold.though if I did I would have probably just increased the output level as long as I wasn't clipping. Just one guys opinion here, but personally I wouldn't spend too much time on threshold differences between ITB compressors and outboard (dbfs vs dbv/dbu and all).mostly because it implies calibration that I certainly did not do Honestly I don't remember off the top of my head if my converters are set to +4 or -10, or for that matter even if I was going out the Lynx or Antelope converters. Thanks for asking if you can share, and no problem at all. Hey Blades, glad you find it interesting. I'll try to get to that in the next little bit here. Would be cool to hear which (if either) compressor emulation is more like the hardware.
#WAVES SSL G MASTER BUSS COMPRESSOR VS CYTOMIC THE GLUE ZIP#
Let me do an export of the individual tracks and I'll zip them up and give you a link to them.

I don't know if the hardware console had the bus compressor on the bus channels or just the regular channel comp with the bus comp being an add-on or something, but seems that would be something that Softube could add to the emulation - like they did with the option of compressor or limiter on the British Class A emulation.Īs for sending you the files - no problem. Seems that is a bit of a missing element with the SSL. I can certainly try that.Īnd on that note: I'm going to send an email to Softube support to ask about the bus compressor. Honestly, before doing this "shootout", I didn't even really think about the Console 1 being channel and not bus. I tried the Console 1 comparison for my own listening, but I didn't include it in the comparison here since the Console 1 version is NOT the bus compressor, rather just the channel compressor used on the bus.
